Meet James Club Recovery Foundation Board Member, Wayne Spath

Wayne H. Spath is a seasoned professional with an extensive career spanning various industries and a deep commitment to his community. A 1963 graduate of Hollywood High School, Wayne’s journey into the workforce began shortly after, as he joined the Broward County Plumbers Joint Apprenticeship Training Program in 1964. From there, he built a foundation in the trades, eventually becoming a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 719, where he held key leadership roles, including serving as the President from 1970 to 1976 and again in 1978.

In the late 1970s, Wayne’s career took a notable turn as he became a pipefitter on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. This monumental project, which connects oil fields in northern Alaska to ports for shipment, provided Wayne with invaluable experience working in demanding environments throughout the U.S. until the pipeline’s completion in 1977.

In 1979, Wayne transitioned into the bail bond industry by taking the helm of Brandy Bail Bonds, a family-owned business founded by his spouse, Brandy Spath, in the early 1970s. Under his leadership, Brandy Bail Bonds grew to become one of the quickest and most efficient bail bond agencies in the country. With its state-of-the-art technology and services, the company provides reliable bail bond services, ensuring the swift release of individuals from incarceration. Over the years, Wayne has helped guide the company into its third generation of family ownership, making a lasting impact on the bail bond industry.

Wayne’s leadership extends beyond business and into the professional realm, where he has been heavily involved in organizations like the Florida Surety Agents Association (FASA). Since joining FASA in 1978, Wayne served on the Board of Directors for over three decades and held several prestigious positions, including President and Legislative Co-Chair. His commitment to the field is further exemplified by his role as a certified expert witness on Bail for the Department of Insurance and as a certified instructor.

Wayne has also made significant contributions to public service. From 1986 to 1996, he was appointed by the state to serve as a bondsman representative on the Bail Bond Regulatory Board. He later served on the Department of Insurance Blue Ribbon Panel in 2002 and was appointed to the Public Safety Coordinating Council in 2008. Additionally, Wayne has been a member of the Broward County Sheriff’s Advisory Council since 2014, supporting first responders and their families in times of need.

Wayne’s commitment to the community is a hallmark of his career. Through his work on the Public Safety Coordinating Council and his involvement in the Broward County Sheriff’s Advisory Council, Wayne has helped support public safety, jail population management, and the well-being of first responders. He remains a tireless advocate for improving both the criminal justice system and community relations in Broward County.

Throughout his career, Wayne H. Spath has exemplified leadership, service, and dedication to his family, business, and community. His legacy is built on decades of hard work and a passion for making a positive impact in both his profession and his community.
